Package Pals

Last month one of my sweet bloggy besties, Andrea of Shabby Kitteh
messaged me with a fun idea she had come up with!

She had said her daughter always noticed how she got packages and fun stuff in the mail,
so she thought it might be fun to set something up for her to get a fun package too.
With our daughters being so close in age, she asked me if we would be interested in a package swap.

As soon as I heard this I was IN, and knew Kiah would be too!
She too ooohhhs and awwws over all the fun mail and packages I get.

So we swapped mailing addresses, info about the girls interests and such,
we decided a time frame and price range, and also came up with
the fun name of "Package Pals".... Like pen pals only BETTER!

Kiah and I went to the store and I let her pick out a few items she thought her pal, Jesslyn, would like.
Kiah made her a bracelet, and picked through a few of my own handmade items from my shop to send.
She made her own card to send and even decided on packaging too.

After that, there was the excitement and anticipation of the wait!
When the package got to our home, Kiah was jumping up and down in excitement!
And of course we decided before hand we would get either pictures or video of the package opening.
We wanted to do video, but the house was a little chaotic, and we had to go outside for peace!
Ive only got a crummy web cam to use for filming... Otherwise there would have been video too.
Anyways, I got lots of fun pictures though, and you can really see how much she enjoyed her package!
This was SUCH a fun idea.
A great way for the kids to connect and bring back good old fashioned snail mail too!
I am thinking we will need to make this a regular maybe quarterly thing.
Have you ever done something like this for your kids?
Would you be interested in having your kids join in on a package pals swap if Andrea and I hosted one?

Highlights

Well football has ended for Brucey, and though I had a lot more photos,
I decided to just share my very favorites.
The "highlights" if you will.

These are the shots I got of Bruce running the ball, and getting SOOO close to a touch down!
Gah, I think my heart stopped during this moment.

We are so very proud of him, and how well he has done.
Not only with the sport itself, but with himself.

I believe it was my first post about him starting football, when I mentioned how shy he was.
How scared he was, how he cried, but stayed tough.

And now, goodness... Look at him.
Out of shell, always trying his best.

Its amazing how much he has changed, since starting football.
He is so much more outgoing, and confident.

I love seeing that in him.
And I love that I have captured this moment in time to remember and share with him later.

Brucey we are so proud of you.
We love you so much.
Keep being the best you that you can be.
You are amazing. Strong. Brave. And still oh so sweet!

Z-A-N-D-E-R

Zander is an eager learner!
Ive mentioned before that I was teaching him how to spell his name.
So for the last couple of months he has been excitedly telling me "Z-Day-N-D-E-R, dat pell my name momma?"

For some reason he just cant get "A" right... so its "day".
But that just makes my heart happy.
He doesnt need to be growing up THAT fast.
I still enjoy his quirky baby talkin' ways!

Well once he got his spelling his name out loud, down, I decided maybe, it was time for him to try to write it out.
He loves a clean piece of paper to write or draw on.
So I figured he would love trying to write his name.
So I started writing his name out for him to show him what his letters look like.

Since then he had been excitedly recognizing HIS letters everywhere.
On the keyboard, in the books we read; "MOMMA, dat my "Z" right dere!?!"

I would write his name in a yellow high lighter on a piece of paper, and tell him to trace over it.
So that he could get used to writing his letters.
Then I would just write it and see if he would copy is underneath.

He has been doing amazing!
There are a couple photos in {this post} where you can see how he has been practicing either tracing my writing or writing it underneath my writing....

WELL, just last week he asked if he could color with some chalk outside.
I said yes, and let him play right on the steps in front of our sliding glass door, where I could see him as I worked on a few things in the house.
Next thing I know he is calling for me.
"Momma yook at my name!"

And what did I find?
He has not only memorized how to spell his name out loud, but how to WRITE his own name!
ALL. BY. HIMSELF!
I was jumping up and down and hugged him and we both got all excited!

He was writing it over and over, so I had him write it out again so that I could get pictures.
How precious is his little writing!?
He even remembered to tell me, that he remembered that "A" was a "cucul (circle) with a tail on it".
This is the kind of stuff that puts a big ole lump in my throat and brings tears to my eyes.

Smart little booger.
I am so proud.
I just love this amazing little man!
3 years old, and writing his name on his own.
He, as well as my other two kidlets really make this momma's heart FULL.
I am so blessed.

Dear Kiah - Just In Case You Didnt Know.

Shirt: Old Navy, Skirt: Handmade by "Grandma Nettie" (The MIL of one of my fav bloggers)
Shoes: Target, Headband: Much Love Illy, Nerd Glasses: Gypsy Warrior
Shoulder Bruise c/o: Hard Core Soccer Practice

Dear Kiah,

Some things have been on my mind lately, and I wanted to write them to you, just in case you didn't know. This might seem strange or hard to believe, but sometimes Mommy has a hard time expressing her feelings. I am not all that good and communicating with people, through speaking especially, (which is just one of the reasons I started this blog), I find it a lot easier to write what I cant seem to say at times. Although I try my very best to show my love for you and your brothers through lots of hugsies and kissies and by making sure to tell you I love you often each day, I somehow feel I am lacking in really expressing it.

To you especially, Kiah. Maybe its because you are the oldest, and you are very independent. Maybe its because your brothers can be such a handful and "mommy hogs". Maybe its because you are SO much like me, and that is so strange to me... No matter the reason, though, I need you to know, and I am sure you DO know this, but just in case you DIDN'T know, or in case you ever forget or feel the need to think twice about it; I LOVE you so much Kiah.

Just in case you didn't know when I was pregnant with you, I thought you were going to be a boy. I was "sure" of it. I wanted to have a little boy so badly. But I cant even say enough how GLAD I am that God gave me YOU, a precious little girl instead. My only girl, My little princess, My little "season's beginning". That's the meaning of your name, by the way, (Season's beginning), just in case you didn't know. And you really were the beginning to a new season in my life. I didn't know this at first, but you help change me for the better. You are a blessing and a gift. I hope you will always remember that.

Just in case you didn't know, Kiah, I am beyond proud of you. You are a brilliant child, and I'm not just saying that because you are my child and I'm partial. ;) You have always, ALWAYS, stood out as as quick learner, over achiever, out going, smart, loving, friendly, beautiful girl! You truly could do anything you set your mind to. I know God will be able to use you for wonderful things, because your heart is His. And you shine His light everyday. I am so proud of the young lady that you are.

Just in case you didn't know, you are a lot like me. We are also very different. I was always shy and self conscience, you are very popular and out going. But in the sense of our attitudes, oh boy, let me tell you... You got yours from me! You are a little artist, you love to draw... You get that from me, I did that too. Still do. ;) Its funny how I look at you, your behavior, the silly things you do and say and I can see a memory of myself in you. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about that... I am not quite sure why, but it does! Maybe its because when I see myself in you, I also see a better version of myself. And that makes me happy and oh so proud, and well, emotional!

Just in case you didn't know, Kiah, you are and always will be my "baby girl". My Kiah-girl. My forever princess. I am loving watching you grow up. I bet you didn't know that when you were a baby EVERYONE and I am NOT exaggerating (you can ask any one of your aunts and Nani too, they will tell you) EVERYONE who saw you, told me that you were the most beautiful baby they had ever seen! And you still are just amazingly gorgeous. And not just because you really are beautiful on the outside, because you are! But also because you have a beautiful heart, you are kind, friendly to everyone, you are smart, and you have such great faith in God!

I could probably go on and on and mush and gush over you Ki-Pie. ♥ But I'm already crying over here, so I'll stop for now and leave it at this last thought; Kiah, just in case you didn't know, you are a wonderful, beautiful, brilliant girl. NEVER let anyone tell you or make you feel any different. God has a plan for you and your life, it says right there in His word {Jeremiah 29:11} and God made you special, just the way you are, for a reason. Never doubt that. Never doubt the love that HE has for you and that we (me, daddy and your whole family) has for you. If you tune your heart to God's he will bless you, and He will do great things through you.

Love Always,
Momma
