The Joys of Mommyhood!

(This is an old post from one of my other blogs originally posted on 8/16/2010 that I wanted to include in this Mommy Blog)

The Joys of being a mommy... Consist of sweet moments like this: Adorable kids, being good brushing up to keep those gorgeous smiles bright! How cute are they?! I feel like such a proud mommy!

And then...

*cue the horrified scream*

dun dun dun.....

Moments like these:
Photobucket

Its moments like this when I ask myself..
why oh why did I think it was such a "cute" idea
to have the little suction cup tooth brushes for the kids? haha
Photobucket

And of course my competitive son just had to "beat"
his sister by putting his the highest!

Bath toys all over the sink..
I swear there is a bucket just for these toys, under the sink.
They must have forgot?
Or maybe they thought the dinos, and water gun could team up
with the tooth paste in the fight against gingivitis!!

Sometimes I wonder how is it that a 7 year old a 4 year old and a 1 year old can make such a mess??
FUN FACT: they each have a hamper of their own in their rooms... there just must never be room in them.. reason enough to leave them on the floor here!

And yes.. that is a diaper you see down there too!!
My 1 year old has figured out how to take off his own diaper now..
anyone else know how that is? Good luck trying to keep it on! LOL
Photobucket

*Sigh*
This toilet paper belongs in the cupboard under the sink.
I have no idea why its even out on the sink.
Ha and the hair brushes go in the drawer right below them.
The little princess must have had a royal ball to rush off too...
no time to put them away!

Ahh the joys? of mommy hood... :)

R.A.O.K.

That is...
Random Acts Of Kids!!!

They make me smile.
They bring me joy
They make me laugh when I'm grumpy.
They leave me a little puzzled...
 They are surprising.
They are silly.
They make the things I don't want to do more fun.

Case in point:
I walk into the bathroom hands full of supplies;
Broom, Clorox wipes, scrub sponge, cleaning sprays, toilet cleaner.....
You get the idea, prepared to clean the bathroom.
I was really not in the mood to be cleaning the bathrooms.
We have 3 of them, and the kids bathroom always gets the messiest!
So I was a little grumpy, until I saw this:

Talk about random!
Like I said,
random acts of kids make doing things I don't want to do more fun.
  It made me laugh.
And I was instantly more grateful for my messy kids,
and for silly random moments like these.

I'd like to hear about your R.A.O.K. stories...
I know if you're a Mommy you have plenty of random acts of
kids stories to share! So let's hear them. :)

Mommy Made Cheesy Garlic Bread Twists! {Recipe}

MMmmmm...
They look good right? They are good!
Well the "recipe" is super simple.
While I was grocery shopping I found something new!
Now Im not sure if they are a new product or not,
but this was the first time I have seen them in the store.
Anyways, I found Pillsbury breadsticks!
I had to get them and knew exactly how I would create them
into yummy cheesy garlic bread twists!
They turned out so yummy, I figured I would share. :)

So here are all the items you will need:
Can of Pillsbury bread sticks
 Melted butter
(I like the spray, its way easy!)
Garlic salt
Parmesan Cheese
Shredded Cheese

First preheat the oven to 375 (as directed on the can of breadsticks)
Get out your sheet pan,
twist the bread stick dough (also as directed)
Then spray with butter to cover bread sticks
shake garlic salt all over the bread sticks
do the same with the parmesan cheese
and finally sprinkle shredded cheese all over the bread sticks.

Pop into the oven for about 13 minutes!
And thats it!
Serve with marinara sauce, and enjoy.
Or eat with spaghetti, that's what we had! :)

They are delicious, a big hit with the hubs and kids and so quick and easy to make.
This Mommy loves quick and easy made!

I think next I may try making them  a sweet treat
with butter and cinnamon sugar!
These simple bread sticks just seem to inspire
yummy ideas! Im so glad I happen to find them in the store!

Im just really curious if these are a new or old product?
Because I havent seen them advertised on TV,
but as I said I have never seen them in the store before either!
Hmmm...
Well I'd love to hear if they inspire any yummy new recipes from you!
And if you try your own cheesy garlic bread sticks, let me know what you think.

I'm Gonna Punch God In the Face! (Dialog Post)

This Dialog post, is a conversation between
Mommy, Daddy, Brucey and Kiah.
This was a conversation that happened a while ago, but I was reminded of
it recently and it made me laugh so I thought I would share. :)

Kiah and Daddy had just come home from the father daughter dance.

Mommy: "Kiah how did you like your special date with daddy?"

Kiah: "It was fun. We went to dinner, and danced, and even went to dessert after!"

Mommy: "Oh what did you have!?"

Kiah: "Banana split!"

Brucey: "Mommy why I not getta go on a special date?"

Mommy: "Ahh, hunny, cause youre not in school yet. Im sure when you go to school there will be a mother son dance, and then we can go on a special date.. if you want to go with me."

Brucey: : "DADDY, Mommy said WE get to go on a special date too!"

Daddy, (always so competitive): "Yeah well we had banana SPLITS!"

Brucey (trying to one up him): "Well we are gonna have STRAWBERRY splits!"

Daddy: "Well.. we went to DISNEY Land!"

Mommy (trying to defend our special date): "Fine.. then we will go to Disney WORLD!"

Kiah (giving her input): "Yeah and we went to Candy land!!!"

Mommy: "Well then we will go to Wonder Land! Huh, Brucey?"

Brucey folds his arms, and gets a serious look on his face.

Daddy whispers to Kiah.

They both say... "We went to see GOD!"

Brucey frustrated shouts: "Well... IM GONNA PUNCH GOD IN THE FACE!"

Brucey Waves his little fist in the air.

Kiah, shocked: "Brucey! You can't say that!"

Mommy and Daddy cant help but burst into laughter!

Kiah turning to Mommy and Daddy trying to explain: "I don't think he knows enough about God..."

Kiah to Bruce: "I think you mean you want to punch the devil in the face!"

Wow.. are the boys in this family competitive or what! :)
Good thing this Mommy can keep up.

Create Your Own Bean Bag Toss

For Kiah's birthday I wanted to made a fun party game that we could keep around and re-use if we wanted.
When I remembered I had made my own life size photo cut out before, I knew I wanted to make something similar! I decided a bean bag toss would be fun!
Fun to create and fun for the kids. :)
So I asked for the hubs helps, and we talked about design ideas. Here is what we did. First we bought ply wood (2 pieces one about 6 inches longer than the other), and some 2x4's.
I started out with the shorter piece of plywood, and painted it white..
while the hubs made a frame out of the 2x4's to fit for the longer piece of plywood. He screwed the painted plywood to the frame.
The opening at the bottom makes it an easy catch place for the bean bags to fall.
After that he screwed the longer plywood to the back of the frame. With Kiah's help.. she was so excited! :)
Now the main part of the bean bag toss is made.
So I started sketching out the design I wanted for the bean bag toss. Since Kiah's birthday was conversation heart themed, I knew I wanted to holes to be hearts. So I used my large chalkboard heart as a stencil, and then had some smaller wood hearts to decorate with.
After the design was drawn out, I started painting!
I left a spot at the top for the title of the toss game:
Sweetheart Toss.
If you look at a box of sweethearts/conversation hearts, you will see that I tried to get the
lettering as close as possible.
This was how it looked after I had all the hearts painted. I drew circles of various sizes in each of the big hearts, for my husband to cut out later.
I added more detail, with the red... turning the little hearts in "concersation hearts". Painting in the title and the points on the big hearts.

All finished painting! :)
Lastly the hubs used his skill saw to cut out the holes.. and thats it.. our very own bean bag toss game!
I love it because its sturdy, and because I painted it myself... I can always re-paint it if I want to use it again for another birthday party theme! :)
Here is Bruce Jr and my little niece Sissy, playing with it. :)

Dialog Post, between Bruce Jr & Mommy

Bruce Jr, from the kitchen half bathroom, with the door open "MOOOOOMMMA!"

Mommy, from the kitchen "What's up Buddy?"

Bruce Jr, with curiosity and excitement "My poop is green..."

Mommy: "Eww, seriously? Ugh... well I guess its just perfect for St. Patrick's Day, huh?"

.....Pause...

"I just kidding, it not green... its GOLD!!"

(Impish little laughter)

"Bruce! Knock it off... shut the door, and don't forget to wipe, flush, and wash!"

Two Years Ago Today

Two years ago today, I was in a hospital bed
after about 24 long hours of labor... which I was feeling
nothing of, since I was actually on lots of medications!
I was actually scheduled to be induced two years ago yesterday!
But no, a certain little boy named Zander was side ways,
had his hand up above his head and refused to move it!
Even after doctors had to physically go up there and
try to fix the problem! After so long, it was decided a
C-section would be the best option.
So as I said a two years ago today I was in a hospital bed
after 24 hours of labor, being prepped for surgery!
So that I could meet my 3rd precious gift from God.

Zander Gabriel Gridley
Born 6 lbs & 10 oz, 21 inches long!

Zander you are such a blessing to me. My sweet precious
baby boy! I cant believe you are already two!

Kiah meeting and holding Zander for the first time.

Little Brucey meeting and holding Zander for the first time.
So sweet giving kisses! :)

Zander your name means "defender of Mankind"
Gabriel means "strength from God"
We know God has a purpose for you, and we are so thankful
for you. My special Zander Boo!

You have grown from such a tiny little thing, into such a little man!

You are so smart, and have always been ahead of your
age. You started crawling at 4 months

sitting up on your own at 5 months,

you were walking by 9 months!

And your developmental progress only continued to
soar. We are so proud of you! :)

As much as you have grown I still just cant believe just
two short years ago I was holding you in my arms for the
first time! I love you so much! I love hearing you in the morning
say 'Hi Mommy Momma' & 'Momma EAT'
I love your kisses, I love your "too" reply when I tell you
that I love you. I love your polite manors, and how you
always say thank you when ever you receive anything.
I love your sweet smile and how you like to try to do everything yourself!
You're so independent and easy (for the most part!)
You're my sweet baby boy!
I love seeing how you grow and learn everyday.
Everyday you amaze me in a new way. And I just look forward
to seeing you grow into the young man God wants you to be.

You are just sooooo handsome too! :)
Just like Daddy and Big Brother "bru"

Boy, do I love my boys!! :)
Happy Birthday Zander!
Mommy LOVES YOU!
